Montreux is a municipality in the district of Riviera-Pays-d'Enhaut in the canton of Vaud in Switzerland.
It is located on Lake Geneva at the foot of the Alps and has a population,, of and nearly 90,000 in the agglomeration.
History
The earliest settlement was a Late Bronze Age village at Baugy. Montreux lies on the north.

Situato tra il Lago di Ginevra e le ripide montagne, Montreux gode di un microclima mediterraneo. In luglio, la città vive al ritmo del Montreux Jazz Festival: 20 giorni di concerti e oltre 250'000 visitatori.
Non lontano dalla città, su un isolotto roccioso, il Castello di Chillon offre un avvincente viaggio nel tempo. Fortezza medievale al fianco della montagna, residenza principesca ai bordi del lago, è uno dei monumenti più visitati della Svizzera.
